Buying a Quiet Ceiling Fan for Your Bedroom: What to Look For

A quiet bedroom ceiling fan should operate below 35 decibels. BLDC motors are significantly quieter than AC motors, and bearing quality directly affects noise. Room size decides the blade span, or sweep, and fans in India are sold in millimetres: 900 mm (about 36 in) for bedrooms up to about 100 sq ft, 1200 mm (about 48 in) for 100 to 150 sq ft, and 1400 mm (about 56 in) for rooms above about 150 sq ft. V-Guard's Airwiz series includes Sleep Mode for even quieter night-time operation.
